2008 Xanadu Chardonnay

To Glenn, the making of this wine is all about enphasising its site. With forty percent of fruit sourced from estate vineyards, twenty percent under-goes natural fermentation and no malolactic fermentation "in order to allow the personality of the site to come through." The result certainly expresses the philosophy, as a Chardonnay built on the vibrancy of primary fruit. It has flavours of grapefruit, white peach, nougat and lemon, in a pure, restrained style with very subtle cashew nut oak propelling the fruit. With excellent length and line and well-balanced acidity, this is a beautifully crafted wine which makes for refreshing drinking now and will develop well for some years.
